Seedance 3.0 at a Glance: What Is Known and What You Can Use Now

Is Seedance 3.0 Released? Not Yet

Every Seedance version ByteDance has shipped got a page on seed.bytedance.com and a model ID in its API catalogues. Seedance 3.0 has neither, and no launch post either. Spec sheets, sample reels and launch dates on other sites do not trace back to any of those sources.

We re-check the sources below and change this table when something moves. Until then, Seedance 2.5 is the newest Seedance you can actually use, and it is the model behind the composer on this page.

What ByteDance Has Said About the Next Step

The closest thing to an official hint is the closing section of ByteDance Seed’s Seedance 2.5 announcement. The team lists two problems it has not solved yet and three directions it plans to work on.

It does not say which model will carry that work or when, so read this as a direction, not a Seedance 3.0 feature list.

Weak spot: motionPhysical plausibility of complex movementNamed by the Seed team as room for improvement in Seedance 2.5.
Weak spot: interactionStable scenes when several subjects interact
Next: storytellingMore coherent narratives
Next: workflowA more intuitive generate-and-edit experience
Next: physicsA deeper grasp of real-world physics

Seedance Release History, and Why No One Can Date 3.0

Seedance has moved quickly: from the first model in June 2025 to Seedance 2.5 at the end of July 2026, with anywhere from about two to about six months between releases. That spread is why the history cannot pin down a Seedance 3.0 date, and ByteDance has not given one.

A specific day attached to Seedance 3.0 is a guess. A real date will arrive the way the others did, with a launch post on seed.bytedance.com.

Seedance 2.5 Today: One Take Up to 30 Seconds

The big step from Seedance 2.0 to 2.5 was length: 30 seconds in a single generation instead of 15, with room for several connected shots inside one take. ByteDance’s barbershop demo below runs six beats, from the first push-in to the barber locking up, with nothing stitched together afterwards.

On Yovid the duration slider goes from 4 to 30 seconds. Test a scene at 5 seconds, then spend on the long version once the idea works.

Seedance 2.5 Today: One Take Up to 30 Seconds – Seedance 2.5
Seedance 2.5 logoSeedance 2.5
Prompt (abridged): A neighborhood barbershop on its last night, in six beats: a slow push-in on the chair, a sideburn trim, the brush-off, a long handshake ("Will you be open tomorrow?" "Not tomorrow. Tonight’s the last night."), the customer leaving into blue dusk, and the barber locking up. (Seedance 2.5 · 16:9 · 28s)

Seedance 2.5 Today: Dialogue and Sound in the Same Pass

Seedance 2.5 builds the soundtrack together with the picture, so lines match the lips and footsteps land with the action. Sound is on by default; switch it off when you plan to add your own score.

Put the lines you want spoken in quotes and name the language. In the demo, a pharmacist and an exhausted mother talk in French on a rainy night.

Seedance 2.5 Today: Dialogue and Sound in the Same Pass – Seedance 2.5
Seedance 2.5 logoSeedance 2.5
Prompt (abridged): A wet Paris street late at night, a green pharmacy cross flashing in the rain. A mother carrying a feverish child hurries in. Dialogue in French: "Quel âge ?" "Deux ans." "Il a mangé ?" "Un peu, dans le taxi." Restrained, documentary tone. (Seedance 2.5 · 16:9 · 30s)

Seedance 2.5 Today: 30 Images and 10 Clips as References

Seedance 2.5 takes far more reference material than earlier Seedance models: Yovid’s composer accepts up to 30 images and 10 video clips at once, against 9 and 3 for Seedance 2.0. Audio references, up to 10 per request, are available through the Yovid API.

Tag each file in the prompt by its role, for example @image1 for the character and @image3 for the room. The demo below puts a paper puppy drawn in 2D next to a real dog in a real bedroom.

Input
Seedance 2.5 logoSeedance 2.5
Prompt (abridged): 2D-meets-3D, cinematic and warm. The paper puppy from @image1 is fist-sized and paper-thin, with detachable paper ears and legs and a stop-motion feel; the real yellow puppy from @image2 plays with it around the bedroom from @image3. (Seedance 2.5 · 16:9 · 25s)

Seedance 2.5 Today: Edit an Uploaded Clip in Words

Attach a clip as a reference and write what should change: a new location, a different prop, another outfit. When the prompt uses words like "replace", "remove" or "change the background", Yovid sends it to Seedance 2.5’s edit mode, which holds on to the original camera move and timing.

It saves a reshoot, or a full regeneration, when one detail is wrong in an otherwise good take.

Prompt (abridged): Change the background to a vineyard in France, replace the coffee in their hands with red wine glasses, change her outfit to a floral wrap dress with a small shoulder bag. Keep everything else unchanged. (Seedance 2.5 · 16:9 · 20s)

Seedance 2.5 Today: Extend a Shot Where It Ends

Extension picks up where your footage stops instead of starting a new scene, so the people, the room and the props stay where they were. ByteDance presents repeated extensions as the way to grow a story past a single take.

Upload the clip, begin the prompt with "Extend @video1" and describe what happens next.

Who Should Start on Seedance 2.5 Instead of Waiting

Nobody outside ByteDance knows when Seedance 3.0 will ship. If one of these is your job, the current model already covers it:

  • Ad and brand teams: 15- to 30-second spots in one take, with the product held in place by reference images and the voice-over generated alongside.
  • Filmmakers testing scenes: Dialogue blocking, previz and green-screen plates turned into lit, acted shots before anyone books a set.
  • Social creators: Vertical 9:16 clips with spoken lines, and the same reference images to keep a face recognizable from one post to the next.
  • E-commerce and product video: A new background, outfit or prop in an existing clip from an edit prompt, instead of a reshoot.
  • Teams planning ahead: Prompt libraries and reference sets built now; writing in shots and beats is a skill that does not depend on the version number.

Starting on Seedance 2.5 Now: Upsides and Caveats

What you gain by using Seedance 2.5 today instead of waiting for 3.0, and what it will not give you.

Why start now

  • Available today: Released by ByteDance on 31 July 2026 and running in the composer on this page.
  • 30-second takes: Twice the 15-second limit of Seedance 2.0 in one generation.
  • Large reference budget: Up to 30 images and 10 videos per generation in the composer.
  • Edit and extend: Fix or continue an uploaded clip from a plain-language prompt.

Keep in mind

  • It is not 3.0: Whatever Seedance 3.0 brings arrives only when ByteDance releases it.
  • Known weak spots: ByteDance itself names complex motion and multi-subject interaction as areas to improve.
  • 1080p ceiling: No native 2K or 4K; run the result through Yovid’s video upscaler when you need more.
  • Plan access: Not on the free plan. Lite and above or any credit pack unlocks it, and 1080p needs Pro, Premium or a pack.

  • Dusk by the sea

Seedance 2.5 · Text to video

A 25-second French New Wave summer drama at dusk: natural light, restrained camera, gentle irony. Two young adults sit on a seaside bench after swimming, looking at the sea, not at each other. She says softly, "You always say you like being alone." He shrugs: "I do. Except when someone keeps me company without making noise." Keep only the natural sound of the waves.

FAQs

Is Seedance 3.0 out yet?

No. As of 20 October 2026, ByteDance has not announced or released a model called Seedance 3.0. There is no model page or launch post on seed.bytedance.com, and no Seedance 3.0 model ID on BytePlus ModelArk or Volcano Engine Ark.

When will Seedance 3.0 be released?

ByteDance has not given a date, a release window or a waitlist. Past Seedance versions arrived roughly two to six months apart, which is too uneven to predict from. Any specific date you see online is a guess until a launch post appears.

Can I use Seedance 3.0 for free online?

Not anywhere, because it has not been released. What you can use on Yovid is Seedance 2.5, the newest Seedance. Signing up is free and comes with credits for the free-plan models; Seedance 2.5 itself unlocks on the Lite plan and above or with any one-time credit pack.

What features will Seedance 3.0 have?

Unknown. ByteDance has published no length, resolution, audio or reference specs for it. The only official signal is the Seedance 2.5 launch post, where the Seed team says it will work on more coherent storytelling, a more intuitive generate-and-edit experience and a better grasp of real-world physics.

How much will Seedance 3.0 cost?

No price exists yet, from ByteDance or from any provider. For reference, Seedance 2.5 on Yovid costs about 6 credits per second at 720p at credit-pack base rates, so a 5-second clip is about 31 credits; subscribers pay less.

Are the Seedance 3.0 videos and specs on other websites real?

None that we have found trace back to ByteDance. A real Seedance release has a page on seed.bytedance.com, a model ID in ByteDance’s API catalogues and a fixed release date. A spec sheet with none of those is marketing, and a "Seedance 3.0" sample video without an official source cannot be verified.

What is the newest Seedance model I can use right now?

Seedance 2.5, released by ByteDance on 31 July 2026. On Yovid it makes 4 to 30 second clips at up to 1080p with sound, takes up to 30 images and 10 videos as references, and can edit or extend a clip you upload.

Is there a Seedance 2.1 between 2.0 and 2.5?

No. BytePlus ModelArk’s model list goes from Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini straight to 2.5, with no 2.1. Seedance 2.5 is the current version.

Is the generator on this page Seedance 3.0?

No. The composer runs Seedance 2.5, and every demo clip on this page is Seedance 2.5 output from ByteDance’s showcase. Public Seedance 3.0 footage does not exist.

Will Seedance 3.0 come to Yovid?

If ByteDance releases Seedance 3.0 with API access, we plan to add it. This page will change first, with a link to the official source.
