Direct answer: A cinematic MiniMax H3 prompt describes one shot the way a director would call it: shot size, subject, one action, one camera move, the light, and the sound you want to hear. Write it in plain sentences, keep each shot to a single camera move, and put any on-screen words in quotes. H3 always generates sound with the picture, so end every prompt with what the scene sounds like. On Yovid, pick MiniMax H3 in the text-to-video generator, paste one of the 30 prompts below, choose a length of 5 to 15 seconds and an aspect ratio, and render at 2K. A 5-second clip costs about 23 credits at base rates and needs Pro, Premium or a credit pack.

A woman in a long red coat walks away from the camera down a rain-wet cobblestone alley at blue hour, warm light spilling from doorways

Image prompt: Cinematic film still of a woman in a long red wool coat walking away from the camera down a narrow rain-wet cobblestone alley at blue hour. The camera sits low and centered behind her, as if slowly pushing in. Warm light spills from a few doorways onto the wet stones, cool blue sky between old stone walls, light drizzle catching the light, anamorphic widescreen feel, shallow depth of field, rich film grain.

What MiniMax H3 is good at

MiniMax H3 is MiniMax's current video model, the generation that many people search for as Hailuo 3. MiniMax describes it as a multimodal model that reads text, images, video and audio together, and it lists film, advertising, branding, e-commerce and games as the work it was built for. On Yovid it renders every clip at 2K with sound.

  • Best for: short cinematic shots of 5 to 15 seconds, scenes where the sound matters as much as the picture, shots that must open or close on a frame you already have, and short on-screen titles.
  • Not for: single clips longer than 15 seconds (Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 go up to 30 seconds on Yovid), silent footage, since sound can't be switched off, and cheap low-resolution drafts, because 2K is the only output.

The MiniMax H3 prompt formula

Write one shot per prompt and build it in this order:

Shot size + subject + action + camera move + light + sound

  • Shot size: wide, medium, close-up or extreme close-up. It tells H3 how much of the scene to show.
  • Subject: who or what is on screen, with one or two details that make it specific, such as "an older jazz trumpeter in a dark suit".
  • Action: one main thing that happens, and how fast. "Slowly turns her head" works better than "moves around".
  • Camera move: one move per shot, such as a push in, pull back, pan, tracking shot or orbit. Say where it starts and where it ends.
  • Light: the light source, the time of day and the color. "Warm doorway light against cool blue stone" gives H3 more to work with than "cinematic lighting".
  • Sound: H3 generates audio with every clip, so name the room tone, the effects and any music or speech. If you want quiet, say so.

For clips of 10 seconds or longer, add timing in plain words, such as "after three seconds" or "as she reaches the door", so the action has a clear order. MiniMax's own guide also suggests short camera cues in brackets, such as [pan], [zoom] or [static], placed right after the description they apply to. A few prompts below use them.

Camera moves: push, pull, pan and track

1. Slow push-in down a rainy alley (8 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Wide shot at blue hour of a woman in a long red wool coat walking away from the camera down a narrow rain-wet cobblestone alley. The camera starts low behind her and slowly pushes in as she reaches a pool of warm light from an open doorway, then she stops and half turns her head. Light drizzle, warm doorway light against cool blue stone walls, shallow depth of field, film grain. Sound of rain on stone, her heels on the cobbles and a distant church bell.

2. Pull-back reveal on a fishing pier (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Close-up of an old fisherman's weathered hands mending a green net on a wooden pier at dawn. The camera slowly pulls back and rises to reveal the whole pier, the moored boats and a flat silver sea stretching to the horizon. Soft overcast morning light, muted colors, light mist over the water. Sound of water lapping against the posts, gulls far away and the creak of mooring ropes.

3. Pan across a station hall (8 s, 21:9)

Prompt

A busy train station hall at morning rush hour, seen from a fixed tripod position. The camera pans slowly from left to right [pan] across travelers crossing the marble floor, past a flower stall, and settles on a young man standing still with a suitcase, looking up at the high arched windows. Shafts of sunlight through the windows, warm dust in the air. Sound of footsteps, a rolling suitcase and the echo of a large hall.

4. Tracking shot on a beach at sunset (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Side-on tracking shot alongside a young woman sprinting down an empty beach at sunset, the camera moving with her at shoulder height. Wet sand reflects the orange sky, her footprints fill with water behind her, and her hair and loose shirt whip in the wind. Handheld energy with a steady horizon. Sound of her breathing, waves breaking and wind gusting past.

5. Half orbit around a chef (6 s, 16:9)

Prompt

A chef in a white jacket stands at a steel kitchen counter and flambés a pan, a tall flame rising for one second. The camera makes a slow half orbit around him from his left side to his right while the flame burns down, keeping his face and the pan in frame. Warm tungsten light, steam and smoke catching the backlight, shallow depth of field. Sound of the sizzle, the whoosh of the flame and kitchen clatter in the background.

6. Locked-off wide, then a slow zoom (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Locked-off wide shot of a red tractor crossing a vast golden wheat field under a huge cloudy sky [static]. After three seconds the camera zooms in slowly [zoom] until the tractor and the farmer at the wheel fill the center of the frame. Late afternoon sun breaking through the clouds, wind moving across the wheat in waves. Sound of the engine, wind through the stalks and a dog barking far away.

Close-ups and emotion

7. A letter that changes everything (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Extreme close-up of an elderly man's face as he reads a handwritten letter by a window. His eyes move along the lines, then stop, his lower lip trembles and a single tear runs down his cheek while he tries to smile. Soft gray daylight from the side, fine skin detail, very shallow depth of field, the camera completely still. Sound of a clock ticking and the paper rustling in his hands.

8. A boxer before the fight (8 s, 9:16)

Prompt

Medium close-up of a young boxer sitting alone in a locker room before a fight, hands wrapped, staring at the floor. He breathes slowly, then looks up straight into the lens with a hard, calm expression as the camera pushes in slightly on his eyes. Harsh overhead fluorescent light, sweat on his forehead, green-gray walls. Sound of his breathing, muffled crowd noise through the wall and a buzzing light.

9. Relief at the arrivals gate (6 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Close-up of a woman in her thirties at a crowded airport arrivals gate, scanning faces in the crowd. Her worried expression slowly turns into a wide, relieved smile as she spots someone off screen, and she raises one hand to wave. Bright cool daylight from tall windows, travelers blurred in the foreground, gentle handheld movement. Sound of crowd murmur, rolling luggage and a soft laugh from her.

10. Checkmate at the kitchen table (7 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Over-the-shoulder close-up of a teenage girl playing chess against her grandfather at a kitchen table. She makes a move, the camera racks focus from her hand to his face across the table, and he raises his eyebrows and grins. Warm evening lamp light, wooden chess pieces, two cups of tea steaming. Sound of the piece clicking on the board and his short, surprised laugh.

11. A violinist waiting in the wings (8 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Profile close-up of a violinist in a black dress waiting backstage in the dark, eyes closed, lips moving silently as she counts. A thin line of stage light falls across her face, then she opens her eyes and exhales. The camera drifts very slowly from her profile to a front view. Deep shadows, warm rim light, dust in the beam. Sound of a large audience settling and an orchestra tuning faintly behind the curtain.

12. Two friends who can't stop laughing (6 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Medium shot of two old friends on a park bench in autumn, one telling a story with big hand gestures while the other tries not to laugh and finally bursts out laughing. Static camera at eye level, yellow leaves falling, low golden sun behind them. Sound of their laughter, rustling leaves and children playing in the distance.

Night and neon

A delivery rider on a scooter waits at a rain-soaked intersection at night, pink and teal neon reflecting in the puddles

Image prompt: Cinematic film still of a delivery rider on a small scooter waiting at a rain-soaked city intersection at night, seen from a low side angle. Abstract pink and teal neon tubes and glowing shapes on the buildings reflect in deep puddles, rain streaks lit by the neon, steam rising from a street grate, the rider in a dark rain jacket with a visor up, looking toward the light. Moody, high contrast, 35mm look, shallow depth of field.

13. A rider at a neon crossing (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Low side-angle shot of a delivery rider on a small scooter waiting at a rain-soaked city intersection at night. Pink and teal neon light reflects in deep puddles, rain streaks glow in the light and steam rises from a street grate. When the traffic light turns green he lowers his visor and rides out of frame, and the camera holds on the rippling reflections. Moody, high contrast, 35mm look. Sound of heavy rain, the scooter engine pulling away and distant traffic.

14. Walking through a night market (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

A narrow night market street lit by strings of warm bulbs and colored neon, steam rising from the food stalls. A young couple walks toward the camera sharing a paper bag of fried snacks while the camera moves backward ahead of them at the same pace. Crowds blurred around them, wet pavement reflecting the lights. Sound of sizzling woks, vendors calling out and a scooter passing.

15. The all-night diner (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

A nearly empty all-night diner at 3 a.m., seen from outside through a rain-streaked window. A waitress refills a lone customer's coffee under flickering fluorescent light while red neon from outside washes over the glass. The camera slowly pushes toward the window. Lonely mood, cool and red color contrast. Sound of rain on the glass, a quiet jukebox ballad and the coffee pot clinking against the cup.

16. Rooftop crane over the skyline (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

A young woman in a silver jacket stands at the edge of a rooftop at night, looking over a dense skyline of glowing towers. The camera starts behind her, then cranes up and over her shoulder to reveal the whole city, a train sliding between the buildings far below. Light wind in her hair, cool blue and magenta palette, light haze. Sound of the wind, the low hum of the city and a distant train.

17. A taxi driver in passing light (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Close-up of a taxi driver's face at night, lit only by street and neon lights that slide across the windshield in bands of pink, blue and amber. He glances at the rearview mirror and gives a small, tired smile. The camera is mounted on the dashboard and stays steady, rain beads on the glass. Sound of the windshield wipers, low jazz on the radio and tires on the wet road.

18. Headlight in an empty garage (6 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Wide shot of an empty underground parking garage at night, a single motorcycle headlight approaching from the far end and lighting up the wet concrete pillars one by one. The camera stays static at ground level as the bike roars past close to the lens. Cold green fluorescent tubes, light fog, high contrast. Sound of the engine echoing off the concrete, rising to a roar and fading away.

Nature and weather

19. Flying over a misty forest at sunrise (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Aerial shot gliding low over a misty pine forest at sunrise, the camera flying forward just above the treetops as the fog breaks and golden light floods a valley with a winding river. Soft beams of light through the mist, deep greens and gold. Sound of wind, birdsong building and a river far below.

20. The first rain on a dry road (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Close-up of the first heavy raindrops hitting a dusty dirt road in a dry farming village, each drop raising a small puff of dust. Then the downpour arrives and the camera tilts up to an old farmer standing in the rain with his arms open and his face to the sky. Dark storm clouds, low warm sun breaking through on one side. Sound of thunder, rain growing louder and his laughter.

21. A skater on a frozen lake (8 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Static wide shot of a frozen mountain lake at blue hour, a lone skater gliding across the ice in long smooth strokes from left to right, snow-covered peaks behind her catching the last pink light. Her breath is visible in the cold air, fine ice texture in the foreground. Sound of skate blades cutting the ice, a soft wind and a deep quiet around it.

22. A storm rolling over a lone tree (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Slow push-in on a lone tree on a grassy hill as a summer thunderstorm rolls in, dark clouds moving fast behind it and wind bending the long grass toward the camera. A bolt of lightning strikes far behind the hill and lights the scene for an instant. Dramatic contrast, cool green and gray tones. Sound of rising wind, rustling grass and rolling thunder.

23. A butterfly in morning dew (6 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Macro shot of a monarch butterfly slowly opening and closing its wings on a purple flower in a sunny meadow, morning dew on the petals. The camera holds still and slowly racks focus from the dew drops to the butterfly. Soft warm backlight, creamy background blur. Sound of bees humming, a light breeze and birds in the distance.

24. Storm waves against black cliffs (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

Wide shot of huge ocean waves crashing against black volcanic cliffs during a storm, white spray exploding high into the air in slow motion. The camera slowly trucks right along the cliff edge while a lighthouse beam sweeps through the spray in the distance. Dark blue and gray palette, heavy atmosphere. Sound of crashing surf, howling wind and the low boom of each wave.

Scenes with sound

An older jazz trumpeter plays under a single warm spotlight in a dim basement club, a bass player and drummer in the shadows behind him

Image prompt: Cinematic film still of an older jazz trumpeter playing a slow solo on a small stage in a dim basement club. A single warm spotlight from above, a haze of smoke drifting through the beam, a double bass player and a drummer soft in the shadows behind him, a few listeners at small candlelit tables in the foreground out of focus. Brass highlights, deep shadows, warm amber and brown tones, shallow depth of field, 35mm look.

These prompts put the soundtrack first. Name each sound source, and say which one should be loudest.

25. A trumpet solo in a basement club (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Medium shot of an older jazz trumpeter playing a slow, aching solo on a small stage in a dim basement club. A single warm spotlight from above, smoke drifting through the beam, a double bass player and a drummer soft in the shadows behind him. The camera slowly pushes in toward his face as he holds a long high note. Sound of the trumpet solo over brushed drums and a walking bass line, and a glass clinking at a nearby table.

26. A street singer under a stone arch (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

A young street musician sings a soft folk song with an acoustic guitar under a stone arch in an old European town while a few passersby stop to listen. Medium close-up, handheld, warm late afternoon light. She sings the line "Come on home, the road is long" in English. Sound of her voice and guitar with the echo of the arch, footsteps on stone and pigeons taking off.

27. Lunch rush at a ramen counter (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

A busy ramen counter at lunchtime. The chef sets a steaming bowl down in front of a hungry office worker, who breaks apart his wooden chopsticks and slurps the noodles as steam fogs his glasses. Static medium close shot from across the counter, warm practical light. Sound of slurping, boiling broth, the chef calling out a cheerful welcome to a new customer and the door chime.

28. A storm outside a cabin fire (10 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Inside a cozy wooden cabin at night, a fire crackles in a stone fireplace and a dog sleeps on the rug while lightning flashes through the window and lights the room for a moment. The camera slowly pans from the window to the fire. Warm orange firelight against cold blue flashes. Sound of the crackling fire, heavy rain on the roof, a roll of thunder and the dog's soft sigh.

29. Backgammon at a sidewalk café (8 s, 16:9)

Prompt

Two old men play backgammon at a sidewalk café in a Mediterranean town, and one slaps the table as he wins. Medium shot, static camera, bright midday sun and deep shade under a grapevine. The winner says "Lucky dice again" in English and the other man laughs and shakes his head. Sound of dice rattling, checkers clacking on the board, a scooter passing and café chatter.

30. A steam train leaving at dawn (10 s, 21:9)

Prompt

A steam locomotive pulls out of a small mountain station at dawn. The camera is static on the platform at wheel height as the huge wheels start turning and steam bursts across the frame. A station master blows a whistle and waves a lantern. Cold blue morning light, warm lamp glow, thick white steam. Sound of the whistle, hissing steam, the slow chug picking up speed and the rails clattering.

How H3 prompts differ from Hailuo 2.3 prompts

Hailuo 2.3 came out in October 2025 as an update to Hailuo 02, with better body movement, facial micro-expressions and stylized looks. MiniMax H3 is the newer model, and Yovid runs H3 rather than Hailuo 2.3. If you have Hailuo 2.3 prompts saved, this is what changes:

Hailuo 2.3 (MiniMax API) MiniMax H3 (on Yovid)
Prompt length Up to 2,000 characters Up to 7,000 characters
Camera control 15 bracket commands, such as [Push in], [Pan left] or [Tracking shot], with up to 3 combined in one bracket Plain-language moves, with optional short cues such as [pan], [zoom] or [static]
Length and resolution 6 or 10 s at 768P, or 6 s at 1080P 5 to 15 s at 2K
Sound No audio setting in the API Generated with every clip
Image input A first frame A first frame, a last frame or both, or up to 9 images and 3 videos as references

In practice:

  • Your descriptions of subject, action and setting carry over as they are.
  • Replace long chains of bracket commands with one camera move written as a sentence. H3 accepts up to 7,000 characters, so there is room for it.
  • Add a sound line. With 2.3 you added audio in the edit; with H3 it comes out of the same generation, so leaving it out means the model picks the sound for you.
  • Use the extra length. At 10 to 15 seconds, describe the shot in order, with a clear beginning and end.

Common mistakes and how to rewrite them

Camera instructions that fight each other. "Fast orbit, slow push in, crane up, and keep the camera static on her face" gives H3 four moves for one shot, and the result usually blends them into a wobble. Pick one move and say where it ends:

Prompt

Medium shot of a dancer in a white dress spinning alone in an empty warehouse lit by one high window. The camera makes one slow orbit around her from left to right and ends on a close-up of her face as she stops. Dust floating in the light beam. Sound of her bare feet on the concrete and a soft piano melody.

Too many actions for one clip. "A man wakes up, makes coffee, reads the news, walks the dog and drives to work" is five scenes. In 8 seconds, H3 can show one of them well. Choose the moment that matters:

Prompt

Close-up of a man in his forties pouring coffee at a kitchen counter at sunrise, still half asleep, while his dog waits at his feet. He looks down, smiles and hands the dog a piece of toast. Warm low sunlight through the blinds, steam from the mug. Sound of the coffee pouring, a radio playing quietly and the dog's tail thumping on the floor.

Asking for long text on screen. H3 handles short titles well, but a request such as "a poster with the full schedule, ten speaker names, the dates and the address" tends to come out as garbled letters. Keep the words short, put them in quotes, and say where they sit:

Prompt

A slow push-in on a dark theater stage as a single spotlight comes on. The title "OPEN NIGHT" appears in clean white capital letters in the center of the frame and holds for two seconds, then fades. Thin haze in the light beam, deep red velvet curtains. Sound of an audience going quiet and a low cello note.

FAQ

Is MiniMax H3 the same as Hailuo 3?

Yes, in practice. MiniMax's official name for the model is MiniMax H3. It follows Hailuo 02 and Hailuo 2.3, and MiniMax's API reference labels the new video endpoint Hailuo-03, so searches for Hailuo 3 or Hailuo H3 lead to the same model. Yovid runs H3 and doesn't offer Hailuo 2.3.

How long can a MiniMax H3 video be, and at what resolution?

On Yovid, each H3 clip is 5 to 15 seconds long, in whole seconds, and always renders at 2K. Text and reference clips can be 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 or 9:16. Clips that start from an image follow that image's shape, so crop it before you upload.

Does MiniMax H3 generate sound?

Yes. Every H3 clip comes with sound generated together with the picture, including speech, effects and music. You can't turn it off on Yovid, so describe the sound you want, or the quiet you want, in the prompt.

How do I write an image-to-video prompt for MiniMax H3?

Upload the picture as the first frame in the image-to-video generator, then describe only what changes: the motion, the camera move and the sound. Don't describe what is already in the image again. You can also add a last frame, or use a last frame on its own, when you know where the shot has to end.

How many credits does a MiniMax H3 video cost on Yovid?

At base rates, about 4.55 credits per second: 23 credits for 5 seconds, 46 for 10 seconds and 68 for 15 seconds. Reference videos add their own seconds, and each reference image after the fifth adds about 1.4 credits. Pro and Premium subscribers pay less per clip. H3 needs Pro, Premium or a one-time credit pack.

More prompt collections, including Kling 3.0 prompts and Seedance 2.5 sound and music prompts, are in Prompt Guides. To try one of the 30 prompts above, open Yovid, choose MiniMax H3, paste the prompt and render a 5-second clip first to check the camera move and the sound before you go to 15 seconds.
